2.St. Basil’s Cathedral
St. Basil’s Cathedral, one of the world’s most famous landmarks, appears to have been snatched from a collection of children’s fairytales. The spectacular tower, which was built in 1561 under the leadership of Ivan the Terrible, dominates and defines Red Square in the heart of Moscow.
St. Basil’s, which consists of ten interconnecting churches, proudly showcases a variety of unusual and original architectural styles, with brilliant colors and swirling patterns everywhere you turn. While it is well renowned for its distinctive façade, the interior is equally captivating, with icons and murals covering every available surface.
